What compression boots do
Recovery boots use intermittent pneumatic compression: air chambers inflate and deflate around the legs in a sequence. The idea is to create external pressure that changes local circulation and fluid movement while giving a massage-like compression sensation.
What the evidence says
Recent reviews suggest compression boots may help with perceived soreness and some recovery measures, but results are mixed and the evidence does not support treating them as a dramatic performance enhancer. In other words: useful recovery ritual for some people, not a substitute for sleep, training load management, hydration and nutrition.
When to skip the boots
Do not assume compression is appropriate if you have a known blood clot, significant vascular disease, active infection, severe swelling of unknown cause or another condition where external compression may be contraindicated. When in doubt, ask the clinician managing that condition.
Dental connection
Compression boots do not have a direct dental treatment role. The useful Haus principle is broader: recovery tools should support a diagnosis and a goal, not distract from an unresolved symptom. The same applies to jaw pain — a gadget is not a diagnosis.
